Improvement Ideas Topic

Since we have a new forum, I figured now's the time for you guys to voice in if you have any ideas for improvements, changes, or other ideas that you think we should implement on the forum. Weather it be forum changes, management improvements, or event ideas, go ahead and let us know the direction you'd like this place to head towards, and we''ll take a look at it.

Well, kinda first thing that comes to mind, is that it seems each usergroup kinda has a forum area to go along with it, except maybe the Design Studio group and Artist's Guild group. Do you think there could be an area for both those groups made or one that they can share? being that Design Studio seems like a bit of a cousin to Artist's Guild sense the both have to do with art.

Well, there isn't a Design Studio, far as I know, unless you mean the Director's Studio, which falls under Movies and TV.

Although we could get a forum for art, drawing, etc. to go with the Artist's Guild group. I think that's a pretty good idea.

Color scheme. Someone please fix it. I don't say that to be annoying, but if the site looks bland it won't attract new people.

I agree with Arc, this color scheme isn't bad, but it's not appealing either. It needs a bit more lively colors.

It needs some more jazz and spunk. I call it junk. But yeah it does need a color change. Since we are focused on media though it kinda makes it hard to narrow it down on the color scale though. I personally think of black when I think media, but I associate that with TV and Theater not Art.

I say we should just make the whole think pink and yellow

As far as color schemes go, I think, going with blacks, dark blues, and maybe dark reds would look nice. But that might just be me. Or go with really light but not bright colors, like a really light blue/green or even gray. Usually I think of very light or very dark colors with media. And there is my two sense.

Honestly, I really like the current layout, personally. I like that it's simpler. Simplicity isn't always a negative thing. But we can consider looking at some other options. We're not going with dark colors, though. We're keeping it relatively bright.

I agree, I really enjoy the basic and bright design that we have currently.

Oh, definitely. I like the light colors, I just think the layout is a bit washed so to speak, that's all.

Yeah, a dark color scheme will draw away quite a bit of users from visiting in my opinion.

So...when are we going to implement improvements?

I was thinking sometime within the next year or two. Maybe three. Or four. Five tops.

I liked having a Most Recent Posts widget back on RAW. Maybe we could have one of those here too?

Can the map on the "view who's online list" be taken down? I'm not found of the idea of total strangers being able to see where people are on here. That, and if we all hide our status, visters may think its a dead forum if they never see anyone on.

Oh that's on here? I remember that being on SWP for a short time but it was removed at some point. I'm pretty sure the locations aren't particularly accurate, but IDK.

Yep. It shows what state/country your in and general location.

Considering it says I live in Idaho even though I live in Alabama, I don't think it's all that accurate.

I will get around to taking it down though.

The map on who's online bases it on forumotion's IP search. The locations are the servers you are connected to which allow you to connect to the website server.

Realistically it shows the country not the exact place where you live. For me it would say dublin because vodafone's server is in Dublin and pretty much all Internet traffic runs out of dublin and into the UK.
