Tolkienites Unite!
Are you reading the Lord of the Rings? The Hobbit? The Silmarillion? Anything Tolkien-related goes here!!
Everyone is welcome to discuss their favorite characters, what they're currently reading, headcanons, meta, anything related to Tolkien's works! Remember, tea is at four, and don't bother knocking.

Headcanons are ideas that are supported by canonical evidence. Not necessarily fanon.

Anyone here read the book of lost tales one and two? I got them a few months back and started the first one. But, have barely touched it.

@Minifig: I think you changed how you've defined that in the past then. What you mean then is theories. XD
@Arwin: Ah yes... Those are very interesting... Quite good. But, well, also very different. Tolkien's original concepts were so hugely different from what he ended up doing later on. And I will say... I like both worlds very much.

Re: Tolkienites Unite!
One could put it that way. It's some of the earliest imaginings of Middle Earth. To the extent that it's actually connected to Earth. As in, Tol Eressea is England.
It's all very interesting, and I enjoyed it a great deal. But yes, it's very, very different. You can see some connections to things, and how things became what they did later on. For example, the Fall of Gondolin is described in great detail in Lost Tales. Sadly though, this is the early version, so it doesn't quite work with the Silmarillion and the like. And then, of course, there are other things as well.

I can confirm the difficulty, it's even more drawn out in style than any of his other books. I could barely get past the first two chapters. But, its worth a read in some areas, such as Gondolin.
